I've been working on this one for some time.
I bought the donor truck back in February.
It had a dead servo and burnt out motor, with a lot of crud in the front axle.
In this test I found that the stock esc screams in pain trying to power an 050 size motor.
And it did in fact suffer several times of no power under load.
So I guess I'll try using the Injora MB100-R80 esc in it the next time.
The Torq MLS-1022 servo is a considerable improvement over stock.
The wheel and tire combo surprised the heck out of me!
These will not be the tires for the final build, but I did like how well they hooked up.
Take aways:
Front links are too short, and the Y-link rubs the driveshaft.
Longer links will help lay those front shocks back.
Front axle with universal shafts are wider than rear axle.
Short term fix would be brass extensions on the rear.
Long term fix would be Meus ISO axles.
Motor is plenty strong.... for now.
Larger tires are probably going to have me wanting a brushless motor.
No word yet on the livery for the body panels.
Current setup:
Axial Scx24 C10 ($60. craigslist basket case donor vehicle)
PowerHobby Defender tires on aluminum beadlock wheels (from donor vehicle)
Stock esc and receiver (from donor vehicle)
LGRP Ultra24 chassis
Injora brass steering knuckles, brass steering links, and brass diff covers
Injora stainless steel driveshafts
Injora 40mm Big Bore oil shocks
Injora 50T purple motor with aluminum cased transmission
Torq MLS-1022 steering servo
Shaved front axle with OGRC universal type shafts
