The Matrix - Sound of Silence [ Music Video ]

People talking without speaking, People hearing without listening -


I started this video years ago, and it sat around ~75% done for quite a while. My original plan was to have it all done and uploaded before the 4th movie came out...well, clearly I missed that. This song is both enjoyable and difficult to edit to - there are the lyrical themes and the little flourishes in the music that are great to work with, yet also its a very powerful song and I wanted to do my best to do it justice. I really love this interpretation of the song, even more so than the (also excellent) original. I still don't think this video is 'perfect', but I'm pretty satisfied with it now and didn't want to leave it just sitting alone on my old hard drive forever, so enjoy. I do think 'The Matrix' suits the lyrics quite well.


The theme should be pretty obvious here, it just goes with the song and shows Neo's increasing awareness of the world and how everyone is living under the robots. The video starts from all grayscale, and color increases as Neo is 'waking up' to reality and as the song builds.
