In response to a lack of glass recycling at their university, Max Steitz and Franziska Trautmann co-founded Glass Half Full, a glass recycling organization in Louisiana. Glass Half Full converts recycled glass into sand that can be used for eco-construction, landscaping, coastal restoration, and more. In the two years since it was founded, the organization has diverted over 1 million pounds of glass from landfills.
