In this video, I’ll show you how I built a specialized jig to quickly and accurately cut each tooth on miniature sprockets using just a manual milling machine and a dividing head. The jig utilizes a drill chuck to accurately clamp the sprocket blanks on an indexing plate attached to a dividing head. The rotary motion of the dividing head is utilized to give the sprocket teeth their curved profile and the indexing plate ensures the correct spacing of each tooth on the sprocket. You’ll see how I built each component of the jig, how I set it up on the machine, and how I located it all to precisely machine each tooth on these miniature sprockets.
