For my upcoming book, Learn Robotics Programming 3rd edition, I've made a Localisation system which the reader will learn to build in Chapter 12.
This video shows a simulation (code to be available on GitHub) being used to test and refine this code, along with some key notes (in the bottom left) on what is going on.
There are browser freezes which I'm working on diagnosing, however, the localisation is working well.
