In an exclusive interview with India Today, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Sanjay Malhotra describes the Indian economy as being in a "Goldilocks" phase, characterized by high growth and low inflation. Marking one year in office, Governor Malhotra highlights that despite global trade fragmentation and "President Trump's return," India clocked an 8.3% GDP growth in the second quarter. He confirms that the central bank has cut the policy rate by 125 basis points since February 2025 to 5.25%, citing benign inflation and a need to support real interest rates.
