During World War II, German forces, along with their Italian and other Axis allies, fought Yugoslav Partisans in the Adriatic region as part of their broader campaign to suppress resistance movements. Operation Schwarz aimed to clear the background of the Adriatic coast by destroying both the Partisan and Chetnik movements.

Partisan Resistance:

Allied Support:
