The Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon EV is stunning // 2025 Mercedes G580 review

This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new Mercedes-Benz G580 EV, body-on-frame SUV.
The Mercedes-Benz G580with EQ technology has four individually controlled electric motors with a combined 579 horsepower and 859 lb-ft of torque. It has a 116-kWh battery with 385 km/239 miles of range. It comes standard with individual wheel drive with selectable low range.
This Mercedes-Benz G580 is fast for an SUV, 0-100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and 0-60 in 4.6 seconds.
What incredible power it offers, look at that torque number. It’s refined, smooth and quiet. The four independent electric motors are integrated into the vehicle’s ladder frame near each wheel. These electric motors can use torque vectoring to create the benefits of the gas model’s traditional lockable differentials.
The Mercedes-Benz G580 comes standard with adaptive damping and active steering assist. There’s the G-Roar sound experience, G-Steering which can reduce the turning circle on loose surfaces and G-Turn, you can rotate in place on unpaved or loose surfaces. It has an offroad menu with a transparent hood display and there’s paddle shifters to control your regen braking with 5 levels which includes, one-pedal driving. Its water fording depth is up to 33.5”, it can climb a 100% grade and handle a 70% lateral slope. There are also 3 levels of offroad crawl with slow crawl, fast crawl and variable crawl.
The Mercedes-Benz G580 has 9.8” of ground clearance so the running boards are welcome. The interior feels luxurious, the doors have the same vault like sound you hear with the gas model and it is so comfortable, the seats cradle your body as you take the turns. The infotainment system is easy to use with dual 12.3” screens, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto and Mercedes-Benz navigation with augmented reality.
The Mercedes-Benz G580 has a starting price of $206,000 CAD/$161,500 USD. You can add plenty of packages to this price and a la carte items to make it your own. It has an 11-kW on-board charger and with a DC fast charger and speeds up to 200 kW, it will go from 10-80% in 32 minutes. With a Level 2 charger, 0-100% in just under 14 hours. With a trailer hitch you can tow over 7,700 pounds.
