In June 2024, Centregreat Ltd was appointed by the South Wales Trunk Road Agents to carry out essential refurbishment works on the Salt Barn near Pont Abraham Roundabout, Cross Hands. This facility plays a crucial role in keeping Carmarthenshire’s roads safe during winter by storing salt for gritting operations.
Originally planned as a 16-week project, the scope changed when structural assessments revealed that the existing concrete walls were in poor condition. Our team quickly adapted, managing the redesign and delivering much of the work in-house to ensure quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
🚧 Project Scope:
✅ Removal of existing asbestos cladding
✅ Structural assessment and redesign
✅ Demolition of deteriorated concrete walls
✅ In-situ concrete wall construction by Truform
✅ Scaffolding and safety netting installation
✅ New cladding installation by Centregreat Engineering
✅ Solar PV installation by our sister company, Solar Centric
By delivering key elements of the project in-house, we ensured a seamless process from start to finish, reducing delays and maintaining high-quality standards. The final result? A stronger, safer, and more sustainable facility, completed in January 2025.
