Watch highlights of Hideto Tanihara as he got off to a great start at the 2018 Omega European Masters.

In the windier afternoon conditions, Tanihara birdied the tenth, 14th, 15th, 16th and second and when he put his tee-shot to eight feet on the par three third, he shared the lead. He dropped a shot on the sixth but picked it straight back up on the next before getting in trouble off the tee on the ninth.

The Omega European Masters is contested in Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Course in Switzerland. Previous winners include Spanish golfing legend Seve Ballesteros, 2018 Ryder Cup captain Thomas Bjørn, as well as numerous Major Champions including Sir Nick Faldo, Ernie Els and Sergio Garcia. Two-time Major Championship winner John 'Long John' Daly has confirmed that he will be competing against defending champion Matthew Fitzpatrick who, in 2017, beat Scott Hend in a play-off after a thrilling final-day battle to win his fourth European Tour title.
