Restore a SQL Server Database from Another Environment (Quick and Easy!)

This video is about restoring a SQL Server database from another environment. We begin the video by explaining a scenario where someone might need to restore a database from another environment. We then goes through the steps of how to do this, using a sample database called Wide World Importers.

First, we use the RESTORE HEADER ONLY FROM DISK statement to get information about the backup set, such as the backup name, type, and date. Then, we use the RESTORE FILELISTONLY FROM DISK statement to get a list of the logical files that were part of the database at the time it was backed up.

Next, we create a RESTORE statement to restore the database. However, we have to address an error because the database is already in use. We fixes this error by switching to the master database and then using the ALTER DATABASE statement to take the Wide World Importers database offline.
