movement ii of "trace"
trace tells a story of time, matter, and life through what remains after presence fades. A four-movement meditation on transience, it moves from natural residue to technological imprint, and ends in human absence and emotions.
It begins with dust logic, a dry and airy movement grounded in eroded, earthy textures, patterns surfacing like scattered dust on the wind. contrails lifts the quartet into sudden velocity: an airborne blur of lines, vapor, and impermanence – manmade and fleeting. The third movement, cache, turns inward toward digital traces and the fragile architecture of stored memory in machines. Finally, having once held closes the piece with an intimate reflection on loss: feeling the quiet, lingering trace of someone even after they are gone.
