Shane Guerin MVB MACVSc CertSAO DVCSc DECVS MRCVS talks about our CPD facilities.

Shane qualified from UCD in 1986 and spent six years in private practice before heading to New Zealand in 1993 to do a Small Animal Surgery Residency. During this period, he became a Member of the Australian College of Veterinary Surgeons by examination, and gained a Diploma in Veterinary Clinical Science from Massey university also by examination. He then returned to UCD in 1997 as a clinical lecturer and really enjoyed the teaching experience during this period. Shane obtained a Certificate in Small Animal Orthopaedics and also became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2020. He then joined Gilabbey Veterinary Hospital where he has worked hard to develop our primary/referral service with a strong emphasis on teaching staff and visiting veterinary students. He has always had a strong interest in small animal orthopaedics and neurosurgery and now has a renewed drive to develop his skills in soft tissue surgery. His professional goal is to continue to do his best and to be open to new ideas and learning, whilst working as a Vet Specialist at Veterinary Specialists Ireland in Cork. Veterinary Specialists Ireland was founded by Laura Cuddy and Turlough Mc Nally in 2019 to provide exemplary advanced specialist care to small animals on the island of Ireland, with the Cork branch opening in 2024.
