Valencia was a popular tune from 1926. Paul Whiteman had a hit with it. But I like this Selvin recording much more. Irving Kaufman handles the vocal nicely on this early electrical recording (instead of belting as he does on his acoustic records). Ben Selvin recorded under a variety of aliases, something many musicians did in the 1920s in order to get around exclusive recording contracts. The Newport Society Orchestra was one of his pseudonyms.
