It's the 1st of August and found myself taking the day off. With the heat dissipating for the day and the sun not beating down I figured today would be a good day to go Rail Buff. I didn't have much time but I had a little and said you know I haven't been to Strasburg in a minute. So that's where I set off for. Drove out to Amish Country and within 50mins we were there.
Power for the trains running today was 2-6-0 (89). 89 was built in Canada and served with CN for a while. Eventually it made it's way over to Strasburg. Which has taken good care of the Locomotive. Strasburg is still an awesome Railroad in the sense that their relevance is helping preserve what once was the main form of propulsion for the Railroad. While Steam has become less efficient overtime and isn't competitive anymore, it is absolutely fascinating the amount of engineering and complexity that went into the design of each engine. Not only that but also the classic sound and mechanical motion that just add to it. Kudos to SRC for keeping the history of Steam Power alive and also will be neat to see the final Restoration of 614.
Also was nice bumping into a few new faces while being out today.
Thanks for watching!
