My First Walstad (no filter, no CO2) | Day 1-38

This is the first time Wasabi has been used in the aquarium hobby, and it’s the centerpiece of this Walstad tank experiment. In this video, I document the tank’s entire first month, from day 1 of setup to the arrival of its first inhabitants: 10 red cherry shrimp!

The tank has been cycling naturally using the Walstad method with no filter and no CO2 and is now stable. You'll also see how I’m handling challenges like Hydra and enjoying the explosion of microfauna. It's a low-tech tank built on patience, balance, and a bit of experimentation.
