After owning the most popular modern choice for some time, we came across many problems using it. And what sprung to mind was this gem from the early 2010's that was on every video makers essentials list...until it was discontinued! The preamp is the Juicedlink RA222 and we had to get one to see how well it would hold up against the modern imitations!
