This frenetic swing-era tribute to drug use, written by silent film star and musician Marion Sunshine, was first recorded by a teenaged Ella Fitzgerald and the Chick Webb Orchestra in 1936. Later versions of this song include those by Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Anita O'Day, Janis Joplin, The Speakeasy Three and many others.

Singer / trumpet-player / band-leader Jenavieve Cooke studied medicine for two years before double-majoring in Advertising and Psychology and worked in art direction in advertising. But then one fine day she just gave up her job, bought a guitar and headed to Costa Rica with a one-way ticket. She then spent seven years travelling extensively in Canada, Central America and Europe. She played the guitar, learned music, busked, hitch-hiked, camped, worked on farms, made and sold leather goods, picked up languages, and recorded music from various cultures. Between working in Europe and elsewhere, Jenavieve spent a few months each in New Orleans in 2011, 2012 and 2013. She finally settled in New Orleans and formed her band The Royal Street Winding Boys. The Spotted Cat Music Club is the Quintessential Jazz Club of New Orleans. Located on the famous FRENCHMEN STREET in the heart of the Faubourg Marigny District, "The Cat", as its known by locals, has been recognized as an international destination for JAZZ music. Numerous movies, commercials, and print media have filmed and written about "The Cat" for its outstanding music and unique ambiance.
