Want to add Tatreez to your clothes, bags, or other fabrics? In this first video of the Tatreez 102 series, I introduce you to waste canvas—an essential tool for embroidering on any fabric that’s not Aida.
⚠️ Important tip: DO NOT use Aida fabric if you’re trying to stitch Tatreez onto clothing—it’s painful (and nearly impossible) to remove! Waste canvas is designed to dissolve or pull away once you’ve stitched, making it perfect for wearable Tatreez.
🧵 In this video, you’ll learn:
The difference between Aida fabric and waste canvas
The tools you need to get started
Why I use sewing thread to baste the canvas (instead of embroidery floss)
Where to buy waste canvas (especially in North America)
What “count” means for waste canvas sizing
Not included: Tweezers and seam rippers, optional but very useful and I will walk through using them in later videos.
