Time to run the iRangeX IRX4+ multi protocol module serial mode on OpenTX. What's needed to operate in serial mode? Do we brick the radio? Do you have more protocol options? What are the pros and cons of running it in serial? Is it worth the effort?

Yes it's totally worth the effort. The iRangeX iRX4+ or any other Multi Protocol module in serial mode unlocks the full potential of these things. Serial connectivity not only provides faster communication between the radio and module, it allows communication in both directions (telemetry). Serial mode also unlocks every protocol currently available in the latest Multi Module firmware releases; allows easy binding, model matching and access to the protocols direct through the radio when setting up your models. In short, when you select any RC model in your radio's model memory, the multi-module will automatically switch to the correct protocol & receiver number you programmed in for that specific model.

Serial connectivity also provides range testing through the radio and allows you to easily update the multi-module's firmware direct through the radio as well as frequency fine tuning adjustment which is necessary with certain protocols.
