In this video from Tingoys TV, we show the actual step-by-step troubleshooting and repair of a Caterpillar 320D excavator experiencing a "TOOL CONTROL MALFUNCTION" error.
While installing a hydraulic jack hammer for testing, the engine speed dropped and the hammer barely worked. We used the built-in CAT diagnostic system to scan for errors and found error code 39-1590-5, indicating a main pump flow limitation pressure solenoid (voltage below normal).
After checking fuses, wires, and harness connections, we found the root cause: a broken wire at the solenoid terminal. Watch as we fix the wire by soldering it back, restoring the machine to full working condition — at zero cost
