I was in four homes in Co. Meath on Friday just gone documenting old dressers and when I was leaving one, the owner Fionnuala Gryson decides to show me these two old threshing mills belonging to her husband Dominic. One has a great story and she tells me it was made in 1917 and was destined for the Tsar of Russia but because of the Revolution, it was shipped instead from Southhampton to the States but when the ship stopped in Cork enroute, six were offloaded and this was one of them!
That’s the story she has and out came my phone to record it.
(PS - the strange noise in the background was a baby goat!)
