Sea Cadet Band Weekend | Grimsby & Scunthorpe Units Collaboration

Cadets and instructors from Grimsby Sea Cadet Band joined Scunthorpe Sea Cadets for an inspiring Introduction to Music Weekend, aimed at helping young people build confidence and develop their skills within the Sea Cadet Band.

Across the weekend, cadets took part in sessions covering basic music theory, beats and notes, and instrument care and maintenance. They explored key areas of the band, including Drill Major, Snare Drum, Tenor Drum, Bugle, and Bells. With guidance from experienced instructors, everyone gained new knowledge, hands-on experience, and a deeper understanding of what it takes to be part of a successful band.

All cadets had a fantastic time and left saying they’d learnt something new and were excited to continue developing their musical skills.

A huge thank you to Scunthorpe Sea Cadet Unit for providing accommodation and to SLt Sturman and his catering team for keeping everyone well-fed and energised throughout the event.
