The Sewing Room: Careers in Fashion and Sustainability

In this presentation, I aim to inspire my audience to explore the wide array of career paths in fashion while emphasizing the importance of sustainable practices. As the industry evolves, educating people about textile recycling, eco-friendly production processes, and their role in creating positive change has never been more vital.

In this video I cover:

An introduction to various career paths in the fashion industry.
The current environmental impact of fashion production and the importance of sustainable practices.
Practical steps students can take to advocate for and participate in a more sustainable fashion future.
How people interested in fashion can integrate sustainable practices into their future careers or personal lives.

I recently presented on Sustainability in Fashion at Bishop O’Dowd High School, where students found it “engaging, informative, and well-organized.” Many expressed newfound interest in exploring fashion careers and contributing to a sustainable future.

In addition to classroom sessions, I’m available to speak at school career fairs, girl scout meetings, sewing guilds and more, sharing my insights about fashion and sustainability with a broader audience.
