After nearly five decades in basketball—as a player, coach, and mentor—Jeff Judkins has officially stepped away from the game. This time, he says, it’s for good.
“I told myself a long time ago, when I’m ready, then it’s time to say, ‘It’s time to move on,’” Judkins shared after announcing his retirement from coaching women’s basketball.
While basketball shaped much of his life, Judkins has found a new passion—riding horses.
“I guess I just got hooked on it,” he said. “I like riding. I like going through and doing what I want to do.”
On Beyond the Game, Judkins reflects on his love for the sport that defined his career, his experiences playing alongside some of the NBA’s greatest, and how he’s now embracing a slower, simpler life in the saddle.
