GIANT MURAL COMPLETE! Baby Yoda is the Final Piece

Baby Yoda was the last and by far the most challenging part of my learning mural. The manhole Death Star is still my favorite. Yoda a close second and Kevin right behind. And on that note, my mural is finished! And it only took 8 months to complete! 🥴

I have a world of emotions happening. I’ve met so many people, made a bunch of friends, heard lots of positive stories, words of encouragement, stories of how kids have enjoyed chasing butterflies, thank you’s for making our mailbox numbers visible, stories of how families have gotten their partners and kids to watch Star Wars, stories of kids going home to draw after they saw me drawing. Faces of delight and excitement to see what I was drawing next. I have sat in my backyard listening to countless little voices and older ones alike say “don’t step on number 5!” and begin their counting of the butterflies. I watched a community come together to fight to keep it and the personal stories that came as to why they wanted to keep it is more than I could have ever imagined would come out of this beautiful accidental project.

This became more than just about the art. This became about family, friendships, community, creativity, inspiration, joy, positivity and love. It has been a crazy time but this has been such a positive and impactful experience in my life.

And on that note, I’m going to hang up my paint brushes and hibernate for a few. Time for me to continue the garden project I started 8 months ago!
