While out on a trail run, the power steering pump in the Wrangler started to sound like a heart monitor with a high pitched beeping sound. So before it failed, a replacement new pump was ordered.
As soon as I took the new PS pump out of the box, I could feel more play in it than the old one. It was a matter of time that the new fluid with the new pump started to smell burnt. Another new pump from the same company was ordered. Similar amount of play, and similar burning power steering smell.
A remanufactured Mopar power steering pump (part number 5154400AC) was ordered. It had next to no play. Since replacing it, power steering fluid looks good and no longer smells burnt.
