This is a real cold start of my 2001 Prevost XLII motorhome. As such, the first 2 minutes include some of the engine's initial cycles, the air tanks on the bus filling up, and slight changes in sound. By the 2:00 mark all of these are gone and it's a consistent idle sound for the remainder of the video.

When our kids were little we used these sleep sound videos a great deal to help them sleep, but I never found one with a diesel engine idling that had good sound quality. I recorded this startup for another video I was working on and decided to make this and the high idle video as well.

Technical specs: This is a 12.7L Detroit Diesel Series 60 engine rated at 500 HP in a 2001 Prevost XLII-45 motorhome, connected to an Allison B500 transmission. I had just installed an Aeroexhaust 5050XL muffler, the reason for this sound recording in the first place.
