A quick recon trip to some new, well, very old but new to me, gold diggings.
A long walk down a ridgeline to some old terrace alluvial ground led to the very first two targets being gold and both found within ten minutes of starting! After an hour or so I got another tiny bit then packed it in for lunch.
The term terrace alluvial refers to old alluvial wash, river or creek beds from long ago, that have been left high above the modern creek level by the surface of the earth weathering and eroding down while leaving the gravel and hopefully gold, behind. So what was once the low point is now up the hill from the newer low point if that makes sense.
Junk to gold ratio was great here, six targets in an hour and three of them being gold!
