EP12 | TYRE Fatt gaya Leh Manali highway par at 14500 feets on last day in Ladakh! | SoS Indian Army

Started our day from Karu #leh to #manali early but since start I was getting some obstacles like I forgot to top up diesel then the only pump there was not working, etc. The roads till #tanglangla were excellent it was so much fun to drive there. I never felt as if driving at 17 thousand feets but after crossing tanglanga there was a patch of very #poor #road with sharp stones all over.
Unfortunately something might have hit my car tyres, I heard a loud sound and in middle of nowhere ( I was about 20 kms away from Lachungla pass), roughly at 16000 fts, I realized that I have lost my tyre, it was not puncture it was a #tyre #burst , a big 1 inch cut on the sides of the tyre. To my surprise the place where it happended was not having any sharp stones or poor road condition. The road was narrow and only 1 vechile could pass so I had to push my car with hands towards the edge of mountain.
I was exausted but luckily my wife stopped an Army duty truck going there and they really helped us changing the tyre. I was out of my breath but somehow we both changed the tyre. The spare wheel was new but 6 year old tyre (never used before) and I was really worried if I loose this one too, I have nothing and you get no help, no network here for next 250 kms.

I crossed all high passes and enjoyed the morey plain and scenic beauty of entire journey but with a constant tension on back of my mind about the tyre and what if this one goes flat.

Roads near #lachung la , #baralachapass are very bad and post #sarchu when you are at #himachal #border again you will face lot of bad patches and yes the pagal nala tough there are no roads but #borderroadsorganisation has done a good job controlling it flow on road.

I met a nice guy at Manali who is a tyre shop owner, helped me getting a new tyre as well as a good stay option. He was real gentlemen and if you face any tyre / car related issue during trip you can surely consult him, name is Ajay. if you need more details pls reach out on comments section

At Karu we stayed at hotel near leh manali highway, Its was good for economical stays specially if you are a traveller and need access to Leh main market. Must meet Anil bhaiya there who can cook anything for you :)

We crossed extremely difficult terrains like #changlapass #khardunglatop #baralachapass pass and also faced heavy #landslide zones near #ramban #nubravalley to #pangongtso & #leh #manali route.

we came across one the finest roads in India e.g #nh152D between #narnaul to #ambala at the same time route with no roads at all e.g near pangong, changla, barlachala etc. It requires a lot of skill to drive in these terrains and would not recommend in case you dont know how to drive in mountains.
