Drill Repair - How To Replace The Motor
My old DeWalt DCD710 started to smoke, and since smoking is bad for you I decided to do something about it. The brushless dc motor of my DeWalt drill started to spark and produce heavy smoke indicating that it was at the end of its lifespan. When I opened the drill I noticed that the grease was finding its way out of the gearbox and there was a lot of dirt inside. So I did a complete teardown of the drill and gearbox and cleaned every part. The smoking dc motor was replaced with a new one. I then greased every part of the gearbox and put it all back together.
