In June of 2023 the Newport & Narragansett Bay Railroad started to ship their two new purchases to their new home in Portsmouth, RI. These two purchases include a 1941 General Electric 80 ton locomotive as well as a former NYC flatcar. Purchased from the old powerplant at Agawam, Springfield, MA both pieces of equipment will be used on the Newport Secondary Rail Line between Portsmouth, RI and Newport, RI. This video shows the process of loading the locomotive and flatcar for shipment out of the power plant before it gets demolished. The locomotive was loaded on a TTX flatcar as its trucks and NYC flatcar were loaded on trailers.
