Using the ground in your golf swing is one of the best ways to increase swing speed and hit the ball further. There are many different ways to utilize the ground in your golf swing and often times people struggle to figure out which way is the best for them. Many different feels can produce the same outcome.
One of my students was struggling with utilizing the ground and caved their front leg during their downswing. When cued to use the ground, they would hang on their backside and float their front leg open around impact. This gave the illusion that they were using the ground but it was not optimal and produced no additional club speed.
Using this jump 180 drill series helped my student to feel like an athlete again and actively use their legs in the golf swing. This can be an amazing drill for avoiding making "jumping" mistakes with your ground reaction force and start using rotational force to generate some upward motion creating ground reaction force and more speed.
At the end of the day, there is no one correct feel or way to generate ground reaction force. But there is an optimal outcome... more speed! If you are struggling to use your legs in your golf swing, this drill series can be an amazing way to transfer leg power into your golf swing.
