Living on an Off-Grid Island – Fencing and a New Animal Shelter

This week, we're back at it with another full day of farm building on the island. We start off by hauling materials and working on a rough new shelter for our newest animals. It’s nothing fancy, just a sturdy little spot to give them some cover and protection from the weather—but it does the trick out here.

Once the shelter is in place, we move on to running fencing around the pen. It’s slow work on this terrain, especially with so many rocks and trees, but we get it done one section at a time. With more animals coming to the island, the need for space and secure pens keeps growing.

Later, we finally check off a task that’s been waiting way too long—building a proper gate for the sheep pen. Until now, we’ve been getting by with a temporary fix, but it’s time to do it right.

Life out here isn’t always fast-paced, but every day brings us one step closer to building something real, one post, one pen, and one shelter at a time.
