From boom to... well, not so boom. Goldfield, this historic jewel is right next to a bunch of places that you have never heard of. About half way between Las Vegas and Reno it is a must stop and see place. Coyotes jackrabbits and mules outnumber the people. With an elevation of over a mile it is colder in the winter but still a stinker in the summer. There is still some mining going on but not much. Fortunately it is on a lot of peoples radar for preservation. For the conspiracy theory inclined it is close to Area 51, Groom Lake and the Alien Highway. Watch it, you will like it. Ghosts too!
