I was mainly planning to record some vocals so I can mess with FX and EQ settings and compare my Shure SM58 microphone with the Phenyx PTU 7000 mic in preparation for some potential live streams for The Curse, but I decided to also test out my Eastwood Hooky Bass 6 Pro a little bit by playing along to a few work in progress New Order tracks that I'm recreating . I also made a last minute decision to try to play the melodica :P
It's been almost 2 years since I played the Shergold Marathon 6 and I'm pretty rusty on these songs overall so there are a handful of mistakes on here, but I didn't want to bother with another take since it still gives an overall idea of how this new bass 6 sounds. Overall I'm liking this bass so far. The biggest problem I have with it (aside from the gold pickguard) is the open A string rattles quite a bit against the zero fret, more buzz than I've ever had on any of my guitars/basses (I have about 12). It doesn't get picked up as much as you hear it unplugged, but it does get picked up enough that I can hear it through my amp and P.A. speakers. I haven't made any adjustments yet, but I'll look into eliminating that buzz soon.
People often ask about effects, etc. so I took note before I could forget: Hooky 6 using a Line 6 G50 wireless into a Clone Theory into a Line 6 LD300 Bass Amp, then XLR out of the amp and into my Behringer XR18 mixer.
