IEN youth delegates Annalee Yellowhammer (Standing Rock Sioux Tribe) and Morgan Brings Plenty (Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe) at the 23rd Session of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues delivered a powerful intervention on day 2 of the forum, bringing attention to the ongoing resistance to the Dakota Access Pipeline.
These Lakota youth also warned Indigenous relatives in the movement that large corporations like Energy Transfer are using legal tactics like Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation (SLAPP) suits to shift blame, accountability, and attack the Indigenous movement in our fight for self-determination to protect Mother Earth.
