Khoon Kyi Sin has seen many instances of discrimination among the children since her school days. From gender or racial discrimination to body shaming, the culture of discrimination has taken its roots in our society. Often, these acts are ignored or unconsciously encouraged by the society. At the age of just 16, Khoon Kyi Cin examines the discrimination we face in our society everyday and urges us to take action and change the fundamental why we think about discrimination. Khoon Kyi Cin is an eighteen years old 1st M.B.B.S student of University of Medicine(1),Yangon. She loves to spend her free time on writing, especially essays and fictions, and has won a number of prizes in school composition competitions.
Since there are a lot of discriminations in everyday life, it always makes her ponder the question, “why do we need to be the same and act the same as others to avoid being an outcast?” In our society, homogeneity is always prized over diversity but she believes the thing that needs to be changed is our perception and that we should acknowledge the existence and choices of every individual. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
