On February 1st, 2025, at approximately 4:00 P.M., I, TFC. Dairren Evans #573, was stationary at the West Memphis Office. I
was notified by Troop D Dispatch of a shooting that took place at the 7th Street Hospital in West Memphis. The suspect was
Antonio Adrion Grays of Arkansas, operating a Blue 2018 Dodge pick-up truck with Arkansas License Plate "1DUGP", who fled
the scene still armed with the handgun used in the shooting. I began to patrol the area in search of the suspect. After an
extensive search of the area, the suspect's mother claimed he had made it to his residence in Gilmore, Arkansas.
At approximately 4:28 P.M. Officers with the West Memphis Police Department spotted the vehicle attempting to return to the
scene on 7th Street. The Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but it began to flee south on 7th Street. I was notified of the
pursuit by Troop D Dispatch and immediately started to catch up.
At approximately 4:31 P.M. I managed to take primary in the pursuit on Interstate 55 south near the 1 mile marker. The suspect
was driving at a high rate of speed as I attempted a Tactical Vehicle Intervention on the truck. I intentionally made contact the
passenger side rear quarter panel of the suspect vehicle. This caused the suspect vehicle to veer off to the left as the tires of
my patrol vehicle were caught on the suspect tires. This caused my patrol vehicle to go airborne. Once I regained control of my
patrol vehicle, I noticed the suspect vehicle was behind me and approaching my location. I attempted to cut the suspect vehicle
off, however he was able to drive off into the grass and avoid my patrol vehicle. The suspect vehicle continued fleeing south on
Interstate 55 as we approached the Mississippi River Bridge. At the base of the bridge, the suspect vehicle got stuck behind a
semi-truck. I attempted a second Tactical Vehicle Intervention, this time striking the driver-side rear quarter panel. This caused
both vehicles to go airborne thus disabling my patrol vehicle.
The suspect vehicle continued south on Interstate 55 with West Memphis Officers pursuing. The suspect vehicle fled to South
Parkway in Memphis, Tennessee before ultimately wrecking due to damage sustained in the TVI attempts. The suspect
Antonio Grays was taken into custody without further incident.
Officers from the West Memphis Police Department recovered the firearm used in the shooting just outside the suspect vehicle
as Antonio Grays attempted to throw it before being placed into custody.
West Memphis Police Department will file all charges associated with the shooting.
I will file warrants for Antonio Grays through the Crittenden County Prosecuting Attorney for the following charges.
5-54-125(d)(3) 2023: FLEEING - FELONY - VEHICLE OR CONVEYANCE - SUBSTANTIAL DANGER OF DEATH
