Limited Edition Signed Torey Pudwill "Cover Boards" available at storiedskateboarding.com
In our inaugural, COVER STORY, “Professional Skateboarder VS Tesla Cyber Truck | Torey Pudwill Cover Story”, Thank You Skateboarding’s own, Torey took one of the most interesting looking, controversial and straight up gnarly vehicles on the planet and turned it into a skate spot. His vision came one day at a gas station when he stood next to a Cyber Truck and thought, “damn, that looks like a sick backside tail slide.” He took to Instagram where he photoshopped himself doing the trick and asked if anybody had one of Elon Musk’s Cyber Truck he could skate. Luckily, Pure PPF reached out and we locked a truck in. Well, when it became a reality, it turns out Torey had maybe bit off more than he could chew. Standing at nearly 6ft tall and 18 ft long, the thing is a frickin’ beast. This was a mental and physical battle and to add to the drama, we needed to find the PERFECT loading dock to skate it off of, that was a task in its own. Not to mention, at the start, the truck was so prestigious that we were afraid to even touch it, let alone waxing it and skating it. On day 1, we tried a location in Long Beach, CA next to Keen Ramps. Fellow Professional Skateboarder David Reyes came to support while S.O.T.Y. (Skater Of The Year) Leo Romero showed up and rifled off a few moves of his own (which we are sure you saw go viral) and shot an ad for Toy Machine. Torey got the backside tail slide later that night but was not satisfied, so we found a new location in Downtown Los Angeles to try again. It turns out, the new location was also the same spot where legends Eric Koston, Jim Greco, Jeron Wilson and Steve Berra had also filmed iconic tricks before - it was meant to be. On Day 2, Torey battles the Cyber Truck and security until he got the legendary trick!
Torey describes this trick as a dream come true and the gnarliest thing he has ever done!
Cover Stories will focus on telling the story of one, epic trick. Like a cover of a magazine but the difference is, this trick is not for a video part or an ad, it is solely for the purpose of this project and for highlighting the importance of what goes into a single trick. Cover Boards will be available to purchase with every story told!
A very special thank you to Pure PPF Car Wraps, Kali & the whole team for allowing us to skate your truck and for the patience along the way.
Torey Pudwill rides for Thank You Skateboards, Red Bull Skateboarding, P448 Shoes, Bones Wheels, Tech Deck, Venture Trucks, Happy Hour Shades, Grizzly Griptape and Diamond Supply Co.
Be sure to check out Torey at Street League Skateboarding (SLS) in Miami, Florida.
