COWS DA-42 | Isle of Man (EGNS) to Liverpool (EGGP) | Microsoft Flight Simulator | Full Flight

A short IFR flight in the new COWS DA-42 VI from Isle of Man's Ronaldsway Airport across the Irish Sea to Liverpool's John Lennon Airport.

We depart RWY 26, followed by a climbing left turn towards TIMIS.

After a short cruise at FL070, we descend to 2000 feet to intercept the ILS for RWY 27.

The COWS DA 42 is a solid, enjoyable representation of its real-world counterpart.

From a simmer's point of view, I find it a good value for money but there exists a potential for much more to be achieved with enhanced visual features such as static elements (wheel chocks, tie-downs, engine covers, perhaps a tow bar), as well as a tablet to control certain features such as toggling crew members (to be or not to be visible in the external view) which is currently achievable only via the Payload menu, and only in the main menu, not during a flight, which is a pity - one cannot "dump" the copilot during a multi-leg session, in the turnaround, for example, without re-starting the session.

I find the internal night lighting, especially the overhead cabin lights somewhat mediocre. The rearward ceiling light hardly - if at all - appears to illuminate the back seats, leaving the pax in complete darkness. It might be my monitor being too dark, though.

According to the devs, wing flex is being looked into and may come at a later date, which is another feature sorely missed as the DA-42 is one of the more "flexible" aircraft and it would be great to look at those flexing wings. Fingers crossed, the feature may come.

Where this aircraft excels is the flight model, which is 10/10. It is so much fun the hand-fly the COWS DA-42 (either variant). The aircraft handles very well. After pumping 20+ hours into the DA-42, I can safely say the excellent flight model catapults this aircraft into the top league.
