Finding warmth and nourishment is their first and foremost goal in life. Although they lack teeth, they do have completely grown nails, some of which may require clipping during the first week of life. At this period, their main activities include sleeping and asking their mother for food. Most of the time, newborn puppies sleep. They frequently twitch while they sleep and only move to reposition their bodies. Twitching happens because, during this period of their development, their sleep is in the REM state, which is marked by intense brain activity. Beyond that, they barely engage with their fellow littermates or the environment beyond huddling up against their mother for warmth. They rely on their mother to feed them and assist them with potty training. Mother also has the given duty of tidying up after every potty activity, which mother dogs like Tokyo, gladly embrace. 🐶🤎
