We discovered Pete’s Place when Charters Towers caravan parks were all full. Turned out better, we loved it here and at just $20 per night, much cheaper than the caravan parks in town. We then moved on to Theresa Creek dam, another $20 campsite with waterfront camping, beautiful wildlife, toilets, showers and even a cafe! We explore the nearby town of Clermont and learn about its 1916 flood, coal and copper mining history in the area. Sapphire and Rubyvale was another day trip from our dam campsite where we bought a bucket of dirt to try and find our fortune!
