Dr. Riek Machar Teny Dhurgon finally met with his lawyers on Friday, September 12, 2025, at his residence in Juba. The lawyers from Kur & Co. Advocates are part of his legal defense team regarding the charges leveled against him. The charges were announced on Thursday, September 11, 2025, by Joseph Geng Akech, the Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs.
As per the press statement issued on Sunday, September 15, 2025, by Kur & Co. Advocates: This was the first time visitors were allowed to see Dr. Riek Machar since March 26, 2025, when he was placed under house arrest.
Additionally, the press statement indicated that the defense team (lawyers) found Dr. Riek Machar "in good health and maintained a stable morale."
