In March of 2006, the Katie Reider Band made its second trip to NYC, to perform at The Bitter End in Greenwich Village, showcasing before a handful of major label reps. This song is from that show, and the seventh in our set.
My high-gain sound for the melodic phrases in this song was achieved by running two drive pedals into one another (this has since come to be called "gain stacking" by guitar nerds like me). Most of the time I used a Tube Screamer, but I would hit the front end of it with a custom-made distortion pedal, made by a friend of mine. For about four years, those two pedals were magic together. Some time in the Spring of 2007, as we were playing our final shows together, they stopped cooperating, and have never worked together ever since.
