Thampuq is a Khowar (Chitrali) language word used in the context of free style polo match. A team gets a thampuq which is a free hit of plinju (polo ball), after scoring a goal. Anyone, of the players however, having ample experience, can take the thampuq. Whoever does, takes the ball in hand, and sprints his horse down the track and tries to hit it aerially towards the rival's goal post. During the thampuq, neither any opposite player will try to stop him, nor any one will create hurdle in his way . He can take the hit after sprinting his horse to the middle of the Pologround.
