El Nido - Not as good as Coron (4K/UHD)

Coron or El Nido? This question is often asked. In the past 5 years I spent two vacations on Coron and is was always great. From December 26th 2019 to January 2020 I visited El Nido for the first time. I got my impressions and now I know, in my eyes Coron is better than El Nido.

El Nido is a location which is visited mostly by tourists only for 2 or 3 days. Most of them are backpackers. The islands all around El Nido are nice, but not very different compared to the islands around Coron. Though El Nido is crowded by so many Backpackers, compared to other tourist spots on the Philippines it is quite expensive. And what you get for your money is often only under average - including restaurants and hotels.

You are asked for money whatever you wanna see. Do you wanna walk to a waterfall? You have to book a tour guide for a very simple way. My wife paid for this "adventure" about 600 Pesos - without the trike to go there. Only for the entrance and the tour guide …
The safety on the boats tours seems to be not the best. During our stay two tourists died because of the lack of safety, some others were hurt.

Will I go to El Nido for a second time? No. But when I start to plan my next vacation to the Philippines, Coron will be again one of my destinations.
