Note: This playthrough uses a relatively recently discovered patch, which disables the auto lock-on system that normally locks the player onto the first enemy they hit with a normal attack, making it impossible to turn afterwards. (see here    • Dynasty Warriors Disabled Auto-Lock Patch ...  )

Shangxiang has quite the problem with her charge attacks being too slow to start up, letting the enemy guard them easily. Even if the attack hits, the combo counter resets unless juggling.
Combo counter reset happens when the enemy can freely act, which means if they try to, they can block the attack.
C2, C3, C5 and C6 are all too slow and do not combo.

C6 is another of those multi-hit attacks, where most of the damage comes from the very last hit (it's the last half spin or so that deals proper damage). Shangxiang's C6 has this weird property where if you do extend the attack, most of the time it makes the enemy drop their guard for some reason.
(Also C6 triggers KO voices on every hit.)

C2 may or may not combo properly depending on how you hit the enemy with it. The later you hit the enemy with the first normal attack, the better chance that C2 connects properly.

The Musou is grounded when regular (packs quite a punch), and airborne at low health. It is possible to juggle with the attack, but the way she moves makes the hitboxes awkward to aim with.
The first three normal attacks can be used for infinite juggling in the first stage to get all the doubled drops.

The Unique Weapon is unobtainable in Story Mode as she lacks the stage in her list. The weapon is in Shi Ting, with the simple requirement of defeating Cao Xiu. Although stat-wise it's pretty much useless. Speed/Jump/Life/Luck/Attack Range isn't much to write home about.


Not much to say about the stages, as they have all been done already. Noteworthy parts are the fact both of Shangxiang's short stages are fillers, and despite being a main officer in Shi Ting and even having her unique weapon there, she doesn't have the stage. He Fei Castle is right after, too, so there is no reason why she couldn't have had it.

I accidentally recorded Chi Bi using wrong settings and so the sound gets quite crunchy on that stage during the fire attack.
