Columbia Student Arrested by U.S. Immigration Officials During Citizenship Interview | News9

Another Columbia University student, Mohsen Mahdawi, was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers after arriving for his citizenship interview in Vermont. Mahdawi, a pro-Palestinian activist from the West Bank, was detained despite being a legal U.S. resident. His arrest follows a similar case involving fellow student Mahmoud Khalil, who was also targeted by U.S. immigration officials. U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders and other Vermont officials have condemned the detention, calling it "immoral" and "illegal." A judge has ordered Mahdawi’s release and barred deportation while his case progresses.
