This episode is packed with gauging and tension tips & tricks. I discuss gauging a ribbed 3-by-1 pattern to get a reliable result. It is a bit more tricky than a usual flat stockinette swatch. And how to get from the swatch to a sweater size with the ease of your liking.
It is the second tutorial in the series of making a sweater with the European Shoulder Construction. We start with this very important and crusial step to ensure a succesful result of our sweater project.
I show the process of making a guage swatch.
Ensuring a flexible cast on edge
How to measure a ribbed swatch to get a reliable result avoid size errors
Fixing off-gauge problems
Fixing uneven tension problems when going back and forth and in the round
How to block and pin your swatch and wait for the wool to find it's natural state of elasticity before the after measurements.
This sweater pattern is very robust regarding switching sizes (different sts count) to get exactly the positive ease of your liking. And that makes it easy using alternative yarns of your liking. Based on a size conversion table we look at how to joggle sweater sizes depending on your stitch count of the specific yarn that you use for your sweater.
There will be more tutorials to find in the playlist: " European Shoulder - Tree Trunk Tutorials" (TTT) Female Edition. They are in the making.
